One word. Talent. I was recently introduced to the band Wavy Trees and whilst my team were skeptical about the track, I immediately knew that I loved I Love Nothing But You from the get go. The song, to me, had a very nostalgic but fresh feeling. Something I haven’t felt when listening to music for a little while.
It’s like if Wallows and Taylor Swift had a baby. Killer instrumental with introspective lyrics. The opening guitar specifically reminded me of Speak Now Era Taylor Swift, mainly, Dear John. One of my favourite songs.
The vibes are immaculate and I can’t help but find myself humming along as I type up reports at my day job.
Outside of the song, the Los Angeles based Wavy Trees embody the vibe of if Wayne’s World and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure collided in an alternate reality house party, the band would be front and centre playing in the backyard.
Their new music video also adds to this retro feel, with old style video game graphics as the polygon band members fly through hyperspace in a visual story, soundtracked with Nothing But You. The amazing animated music video looking like a Playstation 1 video game made by Jason (the guitarist) – like I said, nothing but talent here.
Wavy Trees offer a mixture of hard rock riffs with the attitude and energy of garage-punk. The band formed in 2019 and has opened for Bikini Trill.

Zack (lead singer of the band) adds about the song : “Nothing But You” is about loving someone more than anything but also falling in love with everyone you meet. I’m the type of person who falls in love every day, and this was written with both no one in particular and everyone l’ve ever loved in mind”
Wavy Trees is composed of lead vocals/lead guitarist Zack Smith, guitarist Jason Espiritu and bassist Brian Duke.
“Nothing But You” was inspired by personal events in my life & also channeled from the dead.”
“The story is mainly based on loving someone more than anything in the world but messing it all up because you fall in love with everyone you meet every day.”
“Yeah, the song is extremely personal, and I actually didn’t want to release it! But then I was on a road trip with Araya (our manager) and showed her the song and she said “THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR THIS” so we went through with the release.”
“The song started with Jason having a programmed drum and the rhythm guitar. When I heard it I instantly was in love with it and added the famous bendy guitar. The lyrics just came naturally channeled from the dead.”
“This song is a lot different from our other singles. It’s more spacey and ballady.”
